Val'utility legal information

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

This notice explains how VALUTILITY (Pty) Ltd processes personal information when people use our website, apply for or hold a Val'utility Warranty, or contact us.

1. Responsible party

The responsible party is VALUTILITY (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2024/728119/07, with its registered and legal-notice address at 1127 Majoro Street, Tladi Township, Soweto, Gauteng, 1868.

The Information Officer is Motumi Molewa. The Deputy Information Officer is Reabetswe Molewa. Privacy requests may be sent to privacy@valutility.co.za or directed to +27 81 679 8024.

2. Information we may process

  • identity, contact and representative information;
  • vehicle, registration, VIN, valuation, ownership and finance information;
  • application, quotation, Warranty, consent and Schedule records;
  • payment references, mandates and billing-status information;
  • installation, device, monitoring, location-event and recovery information;
  • theft, hijacking, police, recovery and assessment information;
  • motor-insurer and Bank information;
  • Benefit Request, complaint, cancellation, refund and communication records; and
  • website, security, diagnostic and audit information.

Payment-card information is processed by the approved payment provider and is not intended to be stored by Val'utility.

2.1 Aggregate website measurement

The public marketing website uses a first-party counter hosted with the site to measure page views, application-link clicks and specified calculator actions. It stores daily aggregate totals by page, placement and broad arrival category. This helps us understand which website pages and next steps are used.

The counter uses no cookies or persistent visitor identifiers. It does not store IP addresses, user-agent strings, contact details, vehicle details, form or calculator inputs, full referring addresses or URL query parameters. Ordinary hosting and network processing is separate. The collector removes totals older than its rolling 90-day window when it next accepts an event. It does not link marketing visits to customer records or treat a link click as a completed application or activated Warranty.

3. Why we process information

  • identify and communicate with applicants and customers;
  • provide quotations and assess eligibility;
  • verify vehicles, ownership and authority;
  • record agreements, disclosures, consents and payment mandates;
  • process payments, refunds, bookings, installations and activation;
  • install, maintain, monitor and recover the approved recovery technology;
  • conduct vehicle-recovery operations;
  • assess Benefit Requests;
  • calculate and pay Warranty Benefits;
  • prevent and investigate fraud;
  • manage cancellation, complaints and legal rights; and
  • protect systems and meet legal and recordkeeping duties.

4. Lawful processing

Val'utility must have a lawful justification for each processing activity. Where consent is required, it will be requested. Consent is not treated as the only possible lawful justification.

Information must be adequate, relevant and not excessive for the identified purpose.

5. Sharing

Where reasonably required and lawful, information may be shared with:

  • the appointed recovery provider, installers, assessors and investigators;
  • payment, hosting, communications, verification and valuation providers;
  • a relevant Bank or motor insurer;
  • the South African Police Service;
  • professional advisers and auditors; and
  • a competent authority or other recipient required by law.

Providers must be subject to appropriate confidentiality, security, use, retention and deletion requirements.

6. Retention and security

Val'utility retains personal information only for as long as authorised and reasonably required for the applicable service, agreement, legal duty, dispute, audit, security or recordkeeping purpose.

Val'utility applies appropriate technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website or electronic system can guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • ask whether Val'utility holds personal information about you;
  • request access to applicable records;
  • request correction or deletion where legally permitted;
  • object to processing where the law permits;
  • withdraw consent where processing depends on consent;
  • object to or opt out of direct marketing;

  • complain to the Information Regulator.

Requests may be sent to privacy@valutility.co.za. We may verify identity and authority before disclosing or changing information.

8. Children and changes
